Gone Hollywood

Time for another hike folks. Grab some trail mix, slather on the sunscreen and git yer boots on.

Now I think it’s safe to say that everyone is familiar with this here little landmark. Today’s journey will take us up the mountain to the antenna towers that sit above the sign. This here’s the trailhead. And some kid obviously looking for his first “big break”.

Time for a water break and a view of the City of Angels.

About half way there you wind up on the other side, looking down at the San Fernando Valley. This is Burbank and part of Glendale.

hsign31.jpg

Time for another water break and some mixed nuts! Almost… there…

hsign32.jpg

We made it! Not much to look at…

hsign33.jpg

…but if you turn around.

hsign34.jpg

I wish it wasn’t so hazy.

Now look over your other shoulder. Not too shabby.

So long Hollywood! Hey, it’s that damn kid again. Look kid, I don’t care what anyone told you, I am not with Grant Miller Media!

Don’t believe everything you read.

WOW, how awesome. I always have to look at a map to see where LA and other cities are located. And they always tell me that everything is one side of the mountains, closest to the water. How spectacular. Phoenix is the same way but not as beautiful. There’s more water and more hills.

It would be cool if you could make the sign say “Hollywoodland”!

oh yeah, what a cute kid. did you find him hitch hiking along the way? 🙂

CUTE kid… 😉 I can never breath in LA, seriously. Must be the humidity mixed with the smog, ’cause Denver smog SUCKS & I breathe fine. I need to do one of these road trip/pic thingies…LOVE the idea!

I really should have gone up there and done that when I lived there. I do regret that.

Teri – It used to say “Hollywoodland” back in the day. He was hawking maps to the homes of washed-up game show hosts.

Tug – LA smog has fewer calories.

Avi – I’ve lived here my whole life and it took me over 30 years to do it.

Dick – That did happen. But I don’t have any pics of it you sick bastard!

Great pictures, MN! I don’t know HOW you made it up there–I would have been dead halfway up what with LA’s horrendous air quality. But looks like it sure was worth the trip!

That kid? Definitely a cutie! Might make it big time in the movies! 🙂
